GWR auto trailer 178 is propelled into the plaform at Bishops Lydeard by 5542 before working a shuttle service to Crowcombe, 25 October 2003. Auto trailers were used by the GWR on branch line and commuter services to save running the locomotive round at each end of the line. The trailer has a driver's cab at the outer end with the controls linked to the locomotive by a system of rods. Click  here for an interior view.
