Nameplate and RAF badge of 34067 Tangmere. This engine was built at Brighton in 1947 to Oliver Bulleid’s original design and named after RAF Tangmere. 110 of this type were built, including the identical West Country class, and almost half of them were rebuilt by BR between 1957 and 1961 without the air-smoothed casing. Tangmere survived in original form until withdrawal in 1963.
