The Welshpool and LLanfair Light Railway is an eight mile long 2ft 6in gauge line running from Welshpool to Llanfair Caereinion in Powys, North Wales. The line opened in 1903 to connect the local farming communities with the market town of Welshpool. Originally operated by the Cambrian, it became part of the GWR in 1923 and was taken over by British Railways at nationalisation in 1948. Passenger trains ceased in 1931, and final closure to freight came in 1956. The line was re-opened by a volunteer group in 1963. The two original locomotives are in use on the line along with other locos and rolling stock from all over the world. Click on the links below to see the pictures.
