The Mid Hants Railway is a ten mile section of the former LSWR / Southern Farnham to Winchester route. It is also known as the Watercress Line because of the watercress beds that used to line the route, and was known to railwaymen as “Over the Alps” because of its steep gradients. The present line runs from Alton where it shares a station with the national network, and Alresford. Click on the links below to see the pictures.
