O4 2-8-0 63601 leaving Loughborough shed to work the first train of the day, 16 November 2002. This loco was built in 1911 by the Great Central Railway at Gorton works, Manchester,designed by J. G. Robinson. During World War 1 this design was chosen by the Railway Operating Department as a standard locomotive and 521 were built for service overseas. No. 63601 belongs to the National railway Museum and is on loan to the GCR. |
