0-6-0ST Florence No.2, built by Bagnalls of Stafford in 1954 [works no. 3059], at Foxfield colliery, 19 July 2008. Florence No.2 was based at Florence Colliery near Longton and used to work on the two mile mineral line which connected the colliery with the main line at Trentham. No.2 was fitted with a Giesl ejector in 1962, this was a device consisting of multiple blastpipe nozzles below a long narrow chimney, an Austrian invention intended to increase the vacuum in the smokebox and improve steam production. |
